Tony & Beryl Davis, John Fargher and Jim Peden

Stan Hugill was soon asked if he would like to contribute to this
magazine. His depth of knowledge on all types of maritime folk
was considered to be an invaluable resource.

Stan often appeared as a guest with The Spinners on radioand
television, and he was a frequent visitor to their weekly folk club
in Liverpool.

And so the 'Bosun's Locker' made its regular appearance
in the magazine.
The articles, make fascinating reading, and are illustrated in typical Stan style, each edition covered a single topic,
and over time they built up to an interesting source of reference. But they are easy to read and even the most inexperienced landlubber can begin to understand his passion for the shanty!
For the more experienced amongst us - there is always
something new to learn. These articles are a real
treasure trove!

articles from Spin Magazine

Reference to this series of articles would never have been possible
without the initial efforts and work of Tony and Beryl Davis. Some people are lucky enough to still have a set of Spin magazines - but
sadly they are not now available.
